Set around a foster home in Kilburn and in the squares of Bloomsbury, where its protagonist Hannah sleeps, the novel grapples with how agency is given to the\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003esexual lives of refugees, presenting gender-fluid, trans and androgynous African immigrants, and insisting that the erotic and intimate side of life is as much a part of someone’s story as ‘land and nations’ are.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSulaiman Addonia\u003c\/strong\u003e is an Eritrean-Ethiopian-British writer and the author of three previous novels, \u003cem\u003eThe Consequences of Love\u003c\/em\u003e (2008), \u003cem\u003eSilence is My Mother Tongue\u003c\/em\u003e (2018) as well as \u003cem\u003eThe Seers\u003c\/em\u003e (2024). Sulaiman lives in Brussels, where he founded the Creative Writing Academy for Refugees \u0026amp; Asylum Seekers and the Asmara-Addis Literary Festival In Exile.
